Ohio State News Alert: Parents, families and community encouraged to sign up for alerts

Updates include university priorities, health and safety information

Starting this week, parents, families and other community members can sign up to receive Ohio State News Alerts when there is a timely update for students, faculty and staff at The Ohio State University. Ohio State News Alerts provide information about topics like:

  • Timely university news priorities: News and updates with information to protect health and safety on and around campus, including safety tips, health resources, timely traffic information and more.
  • COVID priorities: Updates and information about COVID safety requirements and protocols to enhance and protect health and safety.

Students, faculty and staff have been receiving Ohio State News Alerts since late August and the university is excited to expand this service. Parents, families and others can provide their cell phone number to receive the news alerts via text message by texting ‘NEWS’ to 644678.

News Alerts are separate and distinct from Buckeye Alerts, which are sent by our Department of Public Safety when the campus community needs to take immediate action to remain safe. For more information about notices sent by the Department of Public Safety including how to sign up for them, please visit this website. For more information about safety resources at Ohio State, please visit the university’s comprehensive safety website.
